As a writer, I saw an opportunity to shine a light on this inequality. While I have no evidentiary proof that a group like the Ladies ever existed, I want to believe women at this time were just as capable as men to fight crime. As a result, I created a fictionalised organization that was female-led, called the Bow Street Ladies, a group of strong, capable women. I hope to show the importance of women having a voice and a place in society.
